LEPs, Foundations & Universities

Community-driven and industry-led initiatives to engage young people in tech for huge benefits to local businesses and councils

We are continually building our network of educational institutions and connected local businesses for us to work together to prepare our young people for the modern digital workplace and to invest in the future of STEM-related industry.

How it works

Our Coding Clubs and the App-Prentice Challenge school engagement programme support young people in mutually beneficial ways for the students and businesses involved.

We value the input of education partnerships, Foundations and Universities for the far-reaching and expert knowledge, experience and resources we’ve seen you bring to the core of our projects.

Just as connecting the students with local employers is a core part of the delivery, we recognise that the contribution of education partnerships, Foundations and Universities provide us with judgements that are integral for our programme to effectively support schools and offer appropriate careers guidance.

Supporting schools

Our work with education partnerships, Foundations and Universities has a history of guiding the focus of the schools that need our App-Prentice Challenge programme the most in support of improving social mobility through education.

Our unique programme is hands-on, practical and encourages critical-thinking, teamwork and some healthy competition to bring out the best in our candidates. With the help of Enterprise Coordinators and outreach professionals from educational partners like Study Higher, Foundations and Universities, we can develop this exciting event to be flexible to continual improvement.

Employer interactions

We recognise how encounters with businesses bring the world of work to life for young people.

After all, we’ve seen how employers can inspire young people by showing them relevant employment skills and connecting them with workplace experiences.

Our educational partnerships not only help us find worthwhile business connections that play a pivotal role in the App-Prentice Challenge. They also provide us with an effective grounding that balances any commercial enterprise programme ties.

It is possible for our educational partners to sponsor the programme, as Study Higher and the University of Buckingham did in 2019, but we are also encouraging local businesses to sponsor the Challenge.

Guiding learning

We aim to prepare students for the next stage of their education, training or employment through an engaging and memorable programme that empowers and inspires them to raise their aspirations.

By working with education partnerships, Foundations and Universities along with our local business connections, we are building a strong network of support.

Our links with education partners are key to galvanising this network and engaging with schools effectively and efficiently, particularly in guiding our programme for optimal learning and in-keeping with the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance.

Research from the Careers and Enterprise Company shows that a young person who has four or more encounters with an employer is 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education or training and can earn up to 18% more during their career.
